At the end of the day... who is the princess?
Zena Florine is a 14 year old Kalosian girl from Aquacorde who has just been selected for Sycamore’s Starter Pokémon Program. With friends, rivals and mentors doing her own journeys alongside her, Zena will explore a Kalos that has changed and is changing after the great Hero saved the Region two years ago, maturing into her own, Princess-like role. It is a story about growth, what it means to be a hero, the weight that comes from having such an all-encompassing shadow looming on top of you and finding out what type of person you want to be.
The Princess's story admittedly began from me watching Marriland's Sword and Shield's playthrough and getting really fucking disappointed with just how badly Sonia (Queen) (We Stan) was treated on that game, just generally not getting much opportunity to like, "be smart" or "find things out by herself", most of her achievements coming from sheer coincidence or the player character connecting the dots for her. From that annoyance, I got a Pokémon Professor OC, Zena as the Main Character and a lot of fun exploring that concept of "A Kalos Sequel thematically developed as part of gen 8."
Yeah. I've been planning and writing this since before PLA.
PLZA has been rough, to say the least.
So? Where can I read it?
Sadly, for better or worse, I am holding on to posting the "Main Story", so to say, of The Princess' Story for when I have actually finished said Main Story. So, at the moment, most of that is resting on computer hard drives, cloud systems and assorted Discord Servers, to be finished God Fucking Knows When. Feel free to ask me for them if we're friends, though!
That being said, I DO have some character design notes written down as well as side-quests and non-main story content posted around. Feel free to check them out!
- Characters: Myldrid Pommier (the aforementioned first OC I made for this, actually), Huon Emeril, Danua Donisa-Faison.
- Story Excerpts: Pumpkins and Stumped (ao3 log-in required), Zena Lodge Conversation, In/direct.
The Princess' Story and all its characters have been a lot of fun for me so far. I have gotten a lot of exploring, saw a lot of Pokémon, characters and mechanics in a whole new way as a result and, most importantly, had a lot of fun with my friends and all their own Pokémon OCs through them. So, if you feel like it, please, go check them out!
